There Once Was a Gal from Holland
They made a new life
In a land far from strife
They were determined to make a stand
This gal named Helen was bold
This is how she met Grandpa I’m told
They were at a dance class
She didn’t want to pass
She danced with the man she would hold
She mothered her kids in turn
There were 10 of them strong
She helped each one along
Until all about life they would learn
There would be bumps along the way
For life is day by day
Some things weren’t a big deal she was sure
She could often be heard saying ook mal heurre
She knew God would make everything o.k.
Grandma had a playful side no mistake
Two doves named Fruitcake and Cupcake
She went shopping for very expensive
I don’t say this to be offensive
With joy these thoughts make my belly ache
Memories of her we redraw
For each one of us experienced and saw
How loving she was
We miss her because
We love her, our Mutti our Grandma
Your grandson, Justin
